Our journey in bangkok. It's definitely my favourite overseas trip!

Day 1
Our plane departs at 6.30am. Pong and mx sent us there. how nice :)

when we were about to board the plane...
it was drizzling so everyone was given an umbrella.

TA DA! touched down at bangkok! looking all excited and happy. but sleepy too.. i barely had 45 mins of sleep that night.

Our cab to hotel. i must remember to buy 4D. haha.

and there we are, at Samran Place hotel. WE LOVE IT. the hotel staff are friendly, excellent service and clean room. good location too.

the moment we check-in to our rooms, i asked the service staff (that same guy in the photo towards the end of this post) for directions to "Kaiton" where the famous khao mum kai is. His reaction was "khao mum kai is chicken rice!" and we were like "yea... we want to eat that chicken rice." he must have found it absurd. two foreigners asking for chicken rice the moment they check-in. haha. but before we even reach Kaiton, we were approached by one scammer who claims to be some tourist staff. he told us about some jewel sale and told us he can get a tuk tuk to fetch us there then to Kaiton for 20 baht. So we agreed cos it sounds like a good deal.

this is definitely the worst pollution for my face.

and there they got it, we bought stuff from them. quite ex but we manage to bargain quite a bit. they're manufacturers for sg jewel shops like soo kee and other renowned brands like Chanel.

after 1.5 years, i finally had the khao mum kai i had been craving for. the chicken rice tastes quite similar to those in sg but the sauce and soup really tastes totally different. and that ice "chinese" tea completes the meal. Next stop, Platinum shopping mall.

Juan's first purchase, a flower rubber band from a road side stall.

we see this everywhere, Black Canyon Coffee. We did a lot of shopping at Platinum then we had our dinner at Fuji. The food there is not bad. well, at least the sukiyaki i ordered tasted better than i expected it to be.

we took tuk tuk back to hotel cos we were feeling damn tired. we didnt have a good rest the previous night so we went back to hotel earlier that night. check out those doraemon wallpaper. haha.

these are our toiletries.

our purchases for day 1. i LOVE those toys. hehe. that pretty much sums up our first day in bangkok. :)
Day 2 - we had an early rest the night before but i think juan didnt really sleep well. we woke up early for breakfast at the hotel and chatuchak after that.

their fried noodles tasted GOOD.

American breakfast was so-so. i like toasts but my qing ai de doesn't.. haha. We took a taxi to chatuchak. we had to pay 45 baht for their toll as we go up the expressway.

the whole chatuchak is really very big. we didnt really shop the entire place. we bought quite a bit there too cos the things there were cheap and we managed to find some unique pieces. there was a shop which sells mechanical watches. i bought 2 from them. love it.

we headed back to platinum after chatuchak because one of the shop gave us short of one piece of clothing. juan suggested lunch at "road side" and we found some around pratunam area. the area is very "lok cok" but the food they served is one of the best and the cheapest we had throughout our stay in bkk.

juan's fried rice TASTED DAMN GOOD.

and this bowl of duck instant noodle tasted DAMN GOOOD too. only for 40 baht, we got great food!

they sell very nice fruit juice too. perfect choice to quench our thirst for that hot weather.

and then we had A&W. i wanted to have those waffles but it wasn't as good as those in sg or m'sia. it wasnt crispy enuff.

after platinum, we went to Suan Lum night bazaar that night. the things they sell are unique but of cos, slightly more costly. we had a bet and she lost. so that night's dinner was on her. haha. we shouldn't have wasted money on that dinner. that meal was one of the most expensive and worst among all. the grilled seafood were overcooked.

we took a cab back to hotel. we were lucky that that taxi driver speaks good english. we had a good chat with him. somehow, language was quite a major problem that we faced especially when we took taxis. one particular driver wasn't sure of the direction and even asked for my phone to call his friend to ask for direction. he spoke for a long time on my phone, as if it was free =.=
the photos below are our purchases for the second day.

my vintage finds at chatuchak, ten commandments bracelet. :) and i absolutely love the watches i bought.

Day 3 - Chinatown
We woke up late so we missed the breakfast and we decided to head to chinatown for breakfast.

this is soooo --- CHINATOWN

our first bowl of fishball noodles didn't taste very fantastic but not too bad.

basically, there are nothing much in chinatown so we left early for manicure at siam :)

i was waiting for juan to be done. she took a longer time as she did gel extension. her manicurist is a shemale. i think one out of 5 (at most) staff in those beauty shops are shemales.

her pedicure.

my pedicure. love the 3D ribbons ;)

my mani.

her gel extenison.

we had dinner at mbk. this plate of fried rice cost about 160 baht and not really nice. cannot be compared to the one we had at the road side.

the phat thai looks good right.. but it didnt taste as good as it looks. i still prefer the maggi mee.

one of the corridors along siam. nice chandeliers.

we finally managed to find Naraya at Central World. i like Naraya :) juan says if she ever go to bkk again, she knows what to get for me. haha.

we intended to go to some chill out places to discuss our plan to make it "big" but in the end, we ended up at a thai disco, Hollywood. We made a new friend there. he's Johny. haha. Hollywood is MUCH bigger than sabai. maybe about 4 times of sabai? and they have another level which i think is for VIPs. the girls there are DAMN HOT. too bad they dont have hot male singers. haha.

what a small world. we met two of juan's friends there.

check out the label. how cool. there was a lady selling flowers outside the club. we bought one stalk each for each other and she gave us another stalk each. haha!

our purchases for day 3 and 4. mostly narayas. haha.
day 4 - we woke up late after one night at hollywood. we slept late. and again, we missed the breakfast but still we ate at the hotel.

the tom yum kung is not bad but, their prawns are really "BIG HEAD" prawns.

petite body with an oversized head. haha.
when we stepped out of hotel, this tuk tuk driver approached us. we told him we wanted to go to Asia hotel and he told us he'll send us there for 10 baht if we do him a favour and that is to visit a very big shop meant for tourist. he gets 5 litre of gasoline for bringing us there and if we buy any of the stuff there, he gets 10 litre gasoline. guess what? he's only 23. SO YOUNG.

we got stopped by the train. SO COOL.

after asia hotel, we went to mbk to shop a bit then we headed to Waterside Resort Restaurant. we finally managed to get there with May May's help. the driver wasn't very clear of the directions. i would say that it's a must for any tourist to visit this place.the food and service are excellent. view is magnificent.

THIS IS A MUST HAVE. i don't remember the name of this dish but the staff there would definitely recommend it.

tom yum kung

the prawns are fresh and not overcooked.
we ordered 6 dishes and we manage to clear quite a bit. we really ate A LOT.

Day 5 - Muang Boran
we woke up early to have breakfast at hotel then we head to Muang Boran. we took a cab and the driver quoted us 800 baht for to and fro and around the whole Muang Boran Ancient City. it's like a mini thailand with almost all the heritage places reconstructed on a smaller scale.

traditional thai barber

the book says that Guan Yin used to be a male.

they sell food on a boat. our cab driver was having his lunch here.

we saw this boy there. he's one of those students on excursion. he's SO HANDSOME so we asked for a photo with him.

THIS IS FUNNY. the girl in the middle asked if we could speak english and where we came from. then, we asked for a photo with her and the rest of the girls crowded over. that girl beside juan was literally hugging her in that shoot. SHE'S SO CUTE. she made us laugh. haha.

after we left, the cab driver took us to siam. we wanted to go CENTER ONE but he assumed the wrong place. well, so we shopped at siam and had our lunch at a hongkong noodle place. the wantons are HUGE.

we took the BTS train to victory monument, where we wanted to go to initially -- Center One. the night market there sells stuff at a dirt cheap prices. we felt cheated by those shops in mbk and even platinum mall. it should be our first stop instead of the last because by then, we were quite broke alr.

their gantry works exactly the same way as sg before EZ-link was invented.

one day, we will walk into those shops with a handful of paper bags from branded shops.

this was taken at one of the shopping malls around siam area. we were "wowed" by the tap. haha.

our mess.. we were so not looking forward to packing up.

it was drizzling that night so we had dinner at our hotel. the steak was not bad and the spaghetti tasted better than expected.

our purchases for day 5

Day 6 - LAST DAY in bangkok
we had our last breakfast at the hotel and we headed to Siam Paragon to buy my instant noodles back to sg :D

and i finally had my mango sticky rice on our last day in bangkok. NICE!

after lunch, we took the train back to Ratchathewi where our hotel is and we went for a 2 hour thai massage. DAMN SHIOK.

He's one of the service staff of Samran Place. He's very friendly and has a nice attitude. we're both very satisfied with our stay at Samran. it's Cheap and GOOD.

Before we left for airport, we asked the driver to stop by at Asia Hotel for 5 mins. it's very last minute but i die-die also must get that Naraya bag before we fly back to sg. Otherwise, i'ld regret. haha.

this is taken on the plane back to sg. sengkiat came to fetch us, so nice of him :)

Home sweet home but i'm alr missing Bangkok. I'm looking forward to more trips with my qing ai de. Haa. and, i wanna go to bangkok again soon.
